In what ways have I improved today?

“Am I better today than yesterday?”
It’s the best question to ask yourself every day to live a ‘good life’.
It is a question for ‘reflection’.

Lucius Annaeus Seneca, a Roman politician and teacher of Emperor Nero, who later died after being ordered to commit suicide. He, who was also a Stoic philosopher, said this, referring to Quintus Sextius.

“Sextius had this habit, and at the end of the day he would go into his bedroom for the rest of the night, and he would ask his soul the following questions:
‘What bad habit did you break today? What faults did you resist? In what way has it been better?… How sweet is the sleep you get after doing these checks. How calm, how deep and still.”

He also gave this advice in his own book.
“Think about whether what you wanted yesterday and what you want today are the same.”
